Spur!Wechsel: Funding for automotive companies that are rebranding
Tapping into new markets
Electrification, digitalization, and new technologies are transforming the automotive industry. For many companies, this means further developing existing expertise and tapping into new business areas. This is exactly where Spur!Wechsel comes in. The funding program helps companies transfer their strengths from the automotive sector to new markets and broaden their value creation over the long term.
The funding is aimed at manufacturing companies and production-related service providers that have, to date, worked primarily or to a significant extent for the automotive value chain. Support is available to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, as well as companies with no more than 750 full-time equivalent employees at the project location, provided they are not part of an internationally active corporate group.
Up to 200,000 euros for your transformation
Through Spur!Wechsel, the SFG supports companies in the automotive sector in realigning themselves and tapping into new business areas. Transformation projects are initiatives in which companies adapt their technologies, production processes, or working methods to new requirements. Diversification projects aim to expand existing business—for example, through new products, services, value chains, or markets.
Funding is available for both investments—such as expenditures on machinery, technical equipment, software, or construction—and non-investment measures. This refers to costs that do not remain permanently as fixed assets in the company but are recorded as current expenses—such as external consulting and engineering services, training, or project-related personnel costs.

- The SFG will fund your project with a grant of up to 200,000 euros.
- The subsidy rates are up to 25% of the eligible investment costs (capitalized as fixed assets).
- The funding rates are up to 50% of eligible non-capital expenditures (recorded as current expenses).

- You’ll have the required initial consultation with the ACstyria Mobility Cluster. Together, you’ll determine whether your project is generally a good fit for Spur!Wechsel. After that, you’ll submit your grant application.

- Conduct an initial consultation

Before submitting your application, you must attend a mandatory initial consultation with ACstyria Mobilitätscluster GmbH to discuss the basic eligibility criteria for your planned transformation project.

- Review the application

We’ll take a close look at your project.
- Announce the cut-off date for credit

Start your project as soon as you receive a credit date from us.
- Approve the funding

If we are able to support you, you will receive your grant agreement. If your project is not eligible for funding, we will notify you in writing.
