Energie!Gewinn: Application currently suspended

Please note: No new applications are currently being accepted!

The submission of applications has been suspended for the time being, as the funding has been exhausted by applications already being processed. Projects already created in the funding portal should be completed and submitted by Friday, February 27, at 12 noon. Applications received will continue to be processed promptly. However, they may only be considered on a waiting list, as it is not yet possible to estimate how many projects can actually be approved.

Take control of your own energy

Imagine your business using solar power from its own roof during the day and storing excess energy for later. That’s exactly what Energie!Gewinn helps with: we specifically strengthen businesses’ self-sufficiency with renewable energy. Companies generate their own electricity, store it, and use it exactly when they need it. This reduces energy costs in the long term, protects against electricity price fluctuations, and increases economic stability. At the same time, companies make an active contribution to the green transformation of Styria.

The funding initiative implements Maßnahme 8 „Förderung der betrieblichen Eigenversorgung mit erneuerbarer Energie“ as part of the EFRE & JTF-Programms „Investitionen in Beschäftigung und Wachstum Österreich 2021–2027“

We are happy to accept your application for the Energy!Profit funding initiative. Fixed funding commitments by the SFG will only be made after the program has been approved by the European Commission. If, contrary to expectations, approval for the use of EU funds is not granted, we will have to cancel all applications submitted up to that point.

Storing electricity – using energy when it is needed

The subsidy supports investments in:

  • electricity storage systems (battery storage) for storing self-generated renewable electricity
  • photovoltaic systems in combination with electricity storage systems for operational self-consumption

The focus is on self-sufficiency. Companies use the electricity they generate in their own operations, thereby reducing their consumption from the public grid. An electricity storage system acts as an energy buffer for the business. Surplus solar power does not flow into the grid, but is available later – for example, in the evening, at night, or during periods of high demand.

The subsidy program supports electricity storage systems:

  • with a net storage capacity of 50 to 2,000 kWh
  • in conjunction with an existing or new renewable energy generation system
  • that are predominantly fed with electricity from their own generation system
  • We do not subsidize storage systems with the aim of storing energy for sale to third parties or participating in electricity trading.

Photovoltaics + storage = the ideal combination for more self-generated electricity

The combination of photovoltaic systems and electricity storage makes particularly efficient use of renewable energy.

We support:

  • the initial installation or expansion of photovoltaic systems
  • exclusively in combination with electricity storage
  • geared towards the company’s own consumption.

The photovoltaic systems should mainly be installed on already sealed and commercially used areas, such as roofs, halls, or parking lots.

Want an example?

A manufacturing plant generates solar power during the day. Machines consume some of it directly, while the storage system absorbs excess energy. In the evening or during peak loads, the plant uses the stored electricity and significantly reduces its grid consumption.

Photovoltaic systems without storage or systems for generating electricity for sale are not eligible for subsidies.

Energy savings – your advantage

With energy profits, companies invest in:

  • lower and predictable energy costs
  • greater energy security
  • a sustainable and competitive future
For whom?
  • styrian companies of all sizes with a focus on supporting SMEs
  • manufacturing, service, and trading companies
For whom not?
  • companies outside the SFG target group
For what?
  • electricity storage systems and system components for storing self-generated renewable electricity (e.g., photovoltaics, wind power, hydropower)
  • initial installation or expansion of photovoltaic systems optimized for own consumption in combination with electricity storage systems
  • installation and ancillary costs associated with the electricity storage and photovoltaic system
  • investments in optimizing internal energy management
For what not?
  • systems that are not optimized for self-consumption
  • purchase of electric vehicles or establishment of a charging infrastructure
  • Other structural measures, e.g., in the context of new construction, extension, conversion, renovation, maintenance, or structural adaptation of the roof.
How much?
  • micro and small enterprises: 50 % of eligible project costs
  • medium-sized enterprises: 40% of eligible project costs
  • large enterprises: 30 % of eligible project costs
Important hints
  • The funding application must be submitted BEFORE the start of the project.
  • The scope of the project must be at least €50,000 for SMEs and at least €100,000 for large enterprises.
  • Submitting a funding application automatically triggers an application for funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
  • The submitted projects will be evaluated based on formal and content-related project selection criteria.
  • The electricity storage facility must obtain at least 75 % of its annual energy from the directly connected renewable energy generation plant.
  • Fixed funding commitments by the SFG will only be made after the program has been approved by the European Commission. If, contrary to expectations, approval for the use of EU funds is not granted, we will have to cancel all applications submitted up to that point.
