Target group:

Open for everybody who is interested in the topic

Abstract:

Immersive Computing for the Digital Industry is a workshop aiming to set up a Think Tank Lab on the topic of digitalization and data driven immersive applications.

Immersive technologies are increasingly becoming a key industrial asset for showcasing products, installations, as well as for training personnel.

The goal of the workshop is to explore the technologies needed to enable realistic experiences of industrial applications that incorporate large volumes of data from sensors in the real-world. In this frame, the workshop will expose wearable feedback technologies such as glasses and haptics displays, wearable sensors like eye-tracking, and current trends in immersive applications, e.g., logistics, telepresence, training, and analytics.

Together with the attendees, a new landscape will be developed for the next generation immersive computing applications in the digital industry. To do so, we will engage in a workshop, discussing what are the scenarios that benefit from immersive technology in each area of industrial application. We will explore how existing technologies can be used in each case and draw a roadmap for the missing aspects. Finally, we will draft together an ambitious plan towards deploying the next generation immersive applications in the future Graz Immersive Computing Think Tank Lab.

After the event you will know:

    • What immersive technologies are available
    • How to use them to interface with sensors in real time
    • What are the limitations of current immersive technologies
    • What scenarios and use cases offer new opportunities
    • What is the roadmap to study and deploy next generation immersive data-driven application
