That was Zukunftstag 2024
“Better Together”: That was the theme of the Zukunftstag event organized by the Southern Innovation and Economic Region. How do business, research, and local communities benefit from collaboration? This question was the focus of this year’s Zukunftstag, which took place on October 9, 2024, at Messe Congress Graz and was attended by approximately 1,300 representatives from business, academia, research, and politics.
In the morning, Dutch nanoelectronics researcher Jo De Boeck, Carinthian Deputy Governor Gaby Schaunig, President of the Styrian Industry Association (IV Steiermark) Kurt Maier, and Manfred Kainz, Chairman of the Foreign Trade Committee at the Styrian Chamber of Commerce, explored the topic of cooperation from various perspectives.
In the afternoon, Isabell M. Welpe, Scientific Director of the Bavarian State Institute for Higher Education Research and Planning, provided insights into how the use of artificial intelligence is changing the conditions for cooperation. Isabell M. Welpe spoke about the collaboration between humans and artificial intelligence, whose significance she equates with the invention of steam power and the discovery of electricity. Based on relevant studies, Welpe expects enormous productivity gains and cost reductions through AI—in every area where information is processed.
