 re one of the main pillars of our economic and social system and are at th

 al environment. The foundation on which secure systems are build is crypto
 graphy and one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern cryptography is the
  ability to perform calculations on encrypted data.\nThis means although t
 he true content of your data is never revealed and stays fully private you
  can still benefit from machine learning evaluations or remote calculation
 s on a server. Data can be exchanged with customers or industry partners i
 n a secure and privacy-preserving manner so that the actual content of you
 r personal phone data or the actual details about your production methods 
 remain private and fully secure. In this session you will get an overview 
 about cutting edge cryptographic methods and an introduction to the curren
 t state of the art of homomorphic encryption\, multi-party computation and
  so called zero-knowledge proofs. Homomorphic encryption\, one of the meth
 ods that allows computation on encrypted data\, is also regarded as a quan
 tum secure or post-quantum algorithm\, since in contrast to conventional c
 ryptographic methods there exists no quantum algorithm that can break its 
 security.\n\nIn the second part of this session you will also learn about 
 this fascinating new era of quantum computation\, where the strange and as
 tounding effects of quantum mechanics are used to solve problems with expo
 nential speedup compared to classical computers. This means by entering th
 e quantum world it is possible to create new machine learning algorithms t
 hat learn almost instantaneously or to solve optimization problems in seco
 nds where a classical supercomputer would take ages. You will get an intro
 duction and reality check on quantum computers and we will discuss how the
 y work\, where the current problems are and why they may change the world
